MOTHERPET / TEST ITEMS
This test analyzes the oral microbiome in a saliva sample. The lab provides information on harmful and beneficial bacteria, along with interpretation for oral health care.

Interpretive information on links between oral bacteria and disease
Periodontal disease · Urinary tract disease · Diabetes · Joint disease · Digestive disease · Bacterial disease · Skin disease · Obesity · Respiratory disease · Heart disease · Brain disease · Otitis externa · Liver disease · Kidney disease · Cancer
These figures are as presented on the official website. An earlier pamphlet we have lists ‘50 types’ of oral bacteria, so the items actually ordered are confirmed in the latest product information. This does not mean the test directly diagnoses 15 systemic diseases.
THE ORAL MICROBIOME
The lab describes it as a service that assesses the balance of beneficial and harmful bacteria. At Maru, we read the results together with bad breath, gum condition and the pet’s usual care history.
WHAT THE REPORT COVERS
Harmful bacteria items defined by the lab are analyzed from the saliva sample. The lab’s current official public materials do not list the individual names of the 30 bacteria.
Beneficial bacteria items defined by the lab are analyzed from the saliva sample. The lab’s current official public materials do not list the individual names of the 18 bacteria.
Reproduced exactly as listed under ‘Main test items’ on the MOTHERPET poster we have.
What is directly analyzed is the oral microbiome in saliva. The 15 items above are associated risk information provided by the lab based on correlations between harmful oral bacteria and diseases; the test does not detect these diseases themselves, nor does it confirm or rule them out.
Sources: DNAGENICS’ official “Banryeoae Microbiome Test” page (describing 30, 18 and 15 types) and the “MOTHERPET Pet Oral Microbiome Test” poster we have (15 main test items). Prediction accuracy for each disease and the individual names of the 48 bacteria could not be confirmed in the public materials reviewed so far.
FROM SAMPLE TO CARE

Follow the collection and storage instructions of the actual kit.

Tested using the items and analysis conditions set by the lab.

Read the analysis data and the lab’s risk interpretation separately.

We review the current oral condition and the direction of follow-up care together.
READING THE RESULT
First, we check the sample information and test items. The meaning of the results is discussed together with oral condition and care history.

DAILY ORAL CARE
Oral care methods and whether to retest are discussed according to the animal’s condition and the test guidelines.

MotherPet is a testing service that analyzes the oral microbiome. The official description introduces a saliva sample and an analysis kit, and covers results on beneficial and harmful bacteria and oral health care.
The sample and the animal’s information are prepared according to the collection instructions of the kit used.
Microbiome information is examined using the analysis items set by the lab. The items that actually apply are confirmed for the product being ordered.
The confirmed microbiome information and the lab’s interpretation are read separately.
The owner’s observations, such as bad breath, gum changes and care history, are linked with clinical information.
The company presents predictive data on correlations between harmful oral bacteria and systemic diseases. This information alone does not confirm or rule out any specific systemic disease.
Basis: kit and analysis information from DNAGENICS’ “Banryeoae Microbiome Test”. The consultation flow above is the Maru website’s guide to understanding results.
THE SAMPLE KIT

The sample and kit used may differ for each test. The collection parts, identification details, and storage and shipping conditions are checked against the instructions for the kit actually used.
We do not infer reagent components or the order of use from the containers in the photo. Preparation related to food, medication and oral care is also explained according to each test’s guidelines.
WITH MARU
We review the animal’s basic information, symptoms, family history, medical records and the purpose of the test together.
The product and items to be used, costs, expected turnaround and re-collection conditions are confirmed in the pre-test information.
We follow the actual kit’s instructions and make sure the animal’s identification matches the request form.
An explanation is prepared based on the result report, after checking sample quality and analysis conditions.
In the veterinary consultation, we discuss what the results mean and any questions about further care or observation.
READING YOUR REPORT
For follow-up tests, we also check whether results can be compared with previous ones under the same conditions. Recording changes in values, changes in daily life and clinical progress separately makes explanations more specific.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
We first discuss the animal’s condition, what you want to know and what information this test can provide.
Sample types and kit instructions may differ. Collection, storage and shipping conditions are confirmed according to the instructions for that test.
A risk level is not a confirmed diagnosis. It must be interpreted together with actual symptoms and examination and test findings.
The test presents information on associations between the oral microbiome and systemic diseases, but the test alone does not confirm or rule out any systemic disease. Oral condition and actual clinical information are reviewed together.
These are confirmed before testing, based on the actual test ordered and its conditions. This guide does not promise any specific price or timeframe.
